How it all started

How it all started

The idea was to pitch something cool for Apple’s new VisionPro , partly to ride the media hype, and partly to give the company a bit more visibility. But it wasn’t just about catching a trend; it also served as a clever way to explore the travel industry. At the time, the Latin America division was looking to bring in more clients from that space, so this project gave us the perfect excuse to dive in.

My role

I wasn't exactly starting from scratch, there was already a proof of concept for a travel management app floating around. So instead of reinventing the wheel, we decided to build on top of that. The groundwork had been done: there was already some research, a target audience (Gen Z, in this case), and a general direction. Our job was to take that foundation and redesign it to fit seamlessly within the native look and feel of visionOS, while also making the most of all the new features Apple was bringing to the table.

Getting familiar with the project background and user was essential, as most of the research had already been conducted and was pivotal in designing the mobile app.

A High Fidelity Prototype was crucial to showcase the robust capabilities of Figma in simulating real-life product interactions. This approach provided a reliable demonstration of the product's functionality.

One of the biggest challenges in developing this concept was sticking to Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines. The thing is, back then, there were no real-world references. VisionPro hadn’t launched yet, so all I had to work with were the official documentation and a handful of slick promo videos. That was it. So I dove into those resources, studied every frame I could find, and started designing directly in Figma, trying to stay as true as possible to what visionOS was meant to feel like.

The end result was a product fully tailored to the VisionPro ecosystem. We explored everything, immersive experiences, voice control, multi-window setups, even spatial audio. The whole idea was to turn trip planning into something that felt like part of the journey itself. Not just booking flights and hotels, but actually setting the mood and getting you excited from the very first moment you start dreaming about your next adventure.
